WHAT WE DO
Shannon Inspired is a non-profit organization that strives to provide grief counseling, resources, goods and services to families in need. We assist those who have experienced an untimely loss of a loved one. We also help individuals that are returning to the workforce. Our organization provides food, clothing, counseling, resume building services and educational resources. We believe that everyone deserves to be supported, encouraged and remembered as they work through the insurmountable loss of a loved one. We are here to help.
Shannon inspired was formed in 2021 in memory of my son Shannon Baker. Shannon was murdered June 8, 2020 at 19 years old. Shannon was very outgoing and everyone loved talking to him. He enjoyed running the business he founded and he also enjoyed helping everyone especially elders and children. After my son’s death, I was prompted to carry on his legacy and what he started. His vision of helping everyone motivated me to begin helping others in his memory.

I first began by speaking at non-violent rallies and events. I also began feeding the homeless but I still wanted to do more to connect to and impact the community. I decided to turn my grief into relief by helping others overcome the same trials I had overcome in my life. Not only had I suffered the loss of a son to violence but also my husband’s life was lost in 2008 due to violence. I am not stranger to loss of loved one’s. I felt others needed to know they were not alone and that someone else had faced and overcome what they are going through as well. I am still standing after loss of loved one’s and I am motivated to help others move on, rebuild their lives after grief, 1 step at a time.
It warms my heart to see the smiles! I love the hugs from those who know I care about their hurt and pain. I can feel my son hugging and smiling down on me. I can hear him saying “good job Mom” and honestly, that’s all the thanks I need. I thank GOD for letting me know my purpose and that’s to serve him and his people.
